"Forged in the Spirit" Part 2: Jesus & Health | Pastor Devon Martinsen | Nov. 6, '22
Matthew 25:14-30
Parable of the Talents - "Well done, good and faithful servant, you were faithful with a few things and I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master."
Things we all need for good health:
*Moderation in all things!
Areas of Health include:
Principles:
If we don't take care of ourselves we won't be available to be used by God!
2. We can only work with the Grace He's given us...
-Mental health and boundaries are important. We shouldn't be operating outside the boundaries of what we can do. Don't stretch yourself too thin! You can't say yes to everything, even if it's all good. It's OK to say No!
3. Be a Risk Taker! Know that God will fill in the gaps! Sometimes he calls us to step into things beyond our ability. Be willing to step out even if you think you won't be good at it. Volunteer, help, serve... because we do this together as the Body of Christ!
-Step out of your comfort zone. Be a good steward of what God has given you.
Tips for Mental Health:
Take care of yourself spiritually so you're not living for yourSELF! (we don't want to be SELF-ish!)
Don't take the path of least resistance. That makes us soft and weak (physically and spiritually).
What's easiest in the moment will never give us the benefit of the hard things that strengthen us and help us to grow!
Disciplines:
"God, what do I need to say YES to?" (Don't bury your talents)
Everything is God's and for God - I work on my physical health so God can use me. So I can be strong and persevere. Make time for rest, renewal.. don't push yourself till you're broken...
Trust God to make up the difference! Take what God has given you and TRY!
Questions to Ask Yourself:
Be BRAVE!
